It looks like a good book but I needed more musical book thats why i returned .I had ordered several song and rhyme books for toddlers. This title was perfect- lots of songs, different versions, and themes listed. It was exactly what I wanted. It’s not a textbook-just a great resourceIs it not amazing that in all countries there are common practices for the first moves of educatng a baby. It has not been scientifically explained but the practice of all mothers in this world stimulates an awakening to memorize language by finger plays with rhymes. There is a strange secret relation between the touch of the fingers and the memory. I had once been invited for an interview - to fill a vacancy in an international firm and had come exactly on the minute. The competent person to evaluate my experience was late and so I talked with his assistant. Our subject was memory of names and he gave me the advice that there is a secret to memorize forgotten names by taking a needle or other sharp object and putting it with some force into the hand while uttering the name. When trying in vain to speak out this name at a later occasion it would just jump into my mind when placing the sharp object to the place of my hand.So, this book is a wonderful start for all babies to develop learning. Although to be used mainly in the English speaking world it is good also in other countries as one can get a good start to the English language.Does this book contain a lot? - yes.Is this book easy to read with nice images? - yes.Would it xerox well? - for the most part. The images are black and white too which makes it easy to xerox onto an overhead for the entire class to read along. However, the book is thick so difficult at times to lay flat on the scanner/xerox copier.Does it include the music for the songs? - no. You would need to look that up on the internet.Does it include diagrams for the finger plays? - no. You would need to look that up on the internet.Does it tell you if the rhymes can be used for hopscotch, jump rope, or hand-clapping games? - no. You would need to look that up on the internet.Is it sorted by letters to easily include in a letter per week toddler curriculum? - at times but only because the title starts with the appropriate letter. It would be better to use the index to find a theme.Is it easy to find what you would like to do? absolutely because there is a table of contents, first line index, theme index, and category index.Do you regret your purchase? - no. I just wish it was laid out for a letter-a-week cutrriculum and included the music notes and diagrams of fingerplays etc. so I did not have to put so much time on my own into using the material.The information within was useful. But the book smelled musty and moldy and had apparent water damage and some side of crust on the front cover. This was NOT what I was expecting. This was NOT worth $22I used for a class assignmentThis book has sooo much to it! I'm an early childhood major and I absolutely love this book. Even my teacher thought it was great! Book is alphabetized which makes it easy to find what you're looking for and in the back of the book you can find each thing by theme!Silberg has done an amazing job at gathering, writing, and organizing this fun book. I bought it when my son was two and in the last two years we have done almost everything in this book. I think that the information that is contained within this book is great for any parent of a toddler to have. My little boy is smarter simply because I took the time to purchase this book. I found The Complete Book of Rhymes, Songs, Poems, Fingerplays, and Chants for just a fraction of the retail price on Amazon. The book is sorted alphabetically, so easy to find the songs that you are looking for, there is also a listing by type and also by the first lines, so difficult not to find what you are looking for.This is an american book, so maybe not what UK buyers are looking for...I took the book and CVD to my daughters creche here in France, and as there are instructions for the movements, it was easy for the french kids to follow on....Lots of variety, some old some new, some are simple and others that are more complicated that I'd use for older children
