Definitely don’t use for holding something while writing as your object of choice will be wobbly when interacting with it, but they were cheap, are lightweight and hold up a book, notebook well, or my laptop next to my monitor at eye level, and at a good height for video conferencing. The adjustable feet mean you can change height easily or accommodate different book sizes.I’ll admit I shot myself in the foot with this product. I misinterpreted the pictures to indicate that this was clear plastic but it is, in fact, metal wiring. My disappointment aside, these are fine, if a little unwieldy.I was searching for a stand to hold small handmade pillows for a display. I couldn't find any the right size in the "display stands" category so I thought of searching for a "dictionary or large cookbook" holder/stand. This is a simple design, just the right depth to hold my little pillows and I have purchased several sets of 2 stands. I like that they are lightweight, fold for easy transport and are exactly what I needed. They came quickly too! Perhaps others who create rug hooked pillows, wool applique pillows or quilted pillows would find these stands great for display in addition to the other uses mentioned.These book stands are amazing! I’ve had multiple fellow law students come up to me and ask where I got these from.Pros: They are inexpensive (2/$10 at my time of purchase) they are light but still sturdy enough to where I don’t worry that they will bend at the weight of my case books, they lie flat when closed taking up virtually no space. To top it off, they reduce the amount of strain on your neck caused by lurching over your case books.Cons: Personally, I have none.A purchase you likely will not regret!I have conflicting feelings about this book stand. I've used one of these for years, and wanted to get another one for myself plus one for a friend...so this pack was perfect. However, I was surprised to see how poor the quality of these was compared to my original. The plastic sides are much cheaper/thinner, and the metal arms, instead of being a smooth, polished stainless steel, are a lightweight matte metal that doesn't move nearly as smoothly. The arms themselves are a different shape than my original model (in the second two photos, the original is on top and the new model is on the bottom). It doesn't seem to affect how books are supported, but overall, these new ones feel much cheaper - to the extent that I'm reluctant to give one as a gift.However, if you have nothing to compare it to, it might be all right. My state says no singing or wind instruments in school right now. The band room is being used for a large class to allow for social distancing. As a result, my chorus class is playing orchestral bells in a science lab. We don't have stands for the bells, so we use the tabletops (not ideal, but ok to teach basic music concepts). We needed stands that would hold the Essential Elements Percussion/Keyboard books on the tables. With the back of this book stand extended, there is a little sag in the book, but not so much that we can't read it. It serves the purpose for which it was purchased, a make-shift table stand for our music books without spending a lot of money.Easy to use, light, sturdy, balanced. I use this for everything from my textbooks for law school to holding recipes while I cook. They are all over my house and my office at school.Bought this for my heavy textbooks.
